Toddler Program ( 18-30 months)
Learning Approach
At Lily Montessori Childcare, our prepared environment for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years includes a structured morning routine, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours, designed to foster independence. This is followed by outdoor play and engaging afternoon activities. Our program focuses on developing fine and gross motor skills, enhancing language abilities, and encouraging self-expression through group circle activities that include stories and music.
Educational activities with carefully selected materials and practical life tasks, such as dressing, washing, and other self-care routines, are integral parts of the day.
The classroom environment features accessible shelves stocked with sensory, fine motor, and language materials, allowing children to explore freely during their active hours. During routines like diapering, toileting, and mealtimes, children are encouraged to express their needs and gradually develop independence.
Teachers observe and support each child’s individual journey, while the multi-age group setting allows children to experience a range of social roles and interactions.
Montessori Areas Of Learning
Practical Life
Our toddler Montessori daycare program highlights practical life activities that encourage young children to develop independence and self-confidence. These activities are customized to each child’s abilities.
Children acquire important self-care skills, such as washing, dressing, toileting, and eating. By supporting their independence in these tasks, we help build their sense of accomplishment and self-reliance.
Language
At Lily Montessori Childcare, our toddler program emphasizes language activities that enrich vocabulary and foster social language skills in English. Children engage in activities such as naming objects, describing actions, discussing pictures, participating in conversations, and enjoying music and singing. This immersive environment helps develop their English language skills.
Through these activities, children expand their vocabulary, enhance communication abilities, and build confidence in expressing themselves, laying a strong foundation for future language proficiency.
Fine Motor Skills
In our Toddler program, children build confidence in their abilities, learn to focus on tasks and develop crucial skills that support their overall growth and independence.
Fine motor skill development plays a key role in fostering independence and concentration. Daily activities such as reaching, grasping, picking up objects, transferring items, using tools and utensils, and participating in art projects are incorporated into the routine. These activities help children improve their hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and precision.
Social Development
At Lily Montessori Childcare, children learn manners and appropriate social behaviors through interactions with peers, teachers, and guided small group activities. These experiences help them practice sharing, taking turns, expressing their feelings, and demonstrating empathy and respect for others.
Through these social interactions, children develop strong interpersonal skills, build positive relationships, and cultivate a sense of community and cooperation.
